About the NSW Telco Authority

NSW Telco Authority delivers critical radio communications to first responders and essential services to keep people and places in NSW safe.

Telco Authority’s Telecommunications Emergency Management Unit (TEMU) leads the NSW Telecommunications Services Functional Area (TELCOFA). This coordinates support for telecommunications during emergencies.

The Telco Authority manages the state's Public Safety Network (PSN). The PSN is a radio network used by frontline emergency services, government agencies and essential services to communicate via radio handsets and other devices during emergencies. The PSN helps save lives. Next to Australia’s triple zero emergency hotline, the PSN is the most important critical communications network in NSW and one of the largest of its type in the world.
