Chris Fechner

Chris brings a passion for excellence in customer care, with his focus on driving the Digital & Product Office to become world-class in delivering customer-centric technology. His purpose is to make government’s one-stop digital shop accessible, reliable and easy to navigate for the diverse citizens of NSW.

Chris is an active champion of Service NSW’s Women In Leadership program and a member of the NSW Government’s Digital and ICT Leadership Group.

Previous roles

Prior to Service NSW, Chris spent five years leading the NSW Department of Planning and Environment’s Digital (DPE) and IT functions, where he completely redesigned the ICT function at the Office of Environment and Heritage, NSW.

In that role he delivered the digital and technology provision for 27 agencies, leading 9000 staff. He drove the implementation of better government technology services and enhanced the organisation’s cyber security capabilities.

Before his contribution to public service in NSW, Chris was Chief Information Officer at the Queensland Department of Transport and Main Roads.
