Service NSW in partnership with Study NSW is collecting your personal information to administer the International Student COVID-19 Crisis Accommodation Scheme in NSW (the Crisis Accommodation Scheme) which is targeted at international students who are in genuine hardship and require temporary crisis accommodation. Accommodation will be delivered through approved student accommodation or homestay providers.

Service NSW is collecting your personal information for the purposes of:

  • processing your application for  the  International Student COVID-19 Crisis Accommodation Scheme

  • contacting you to discuss the outcome of your application

  • providing you with information and guidance about the Crisis Accommodation Scheme

  • performing audits and inspections to confirm that the Crisis Accommodation Scheme Guidelines/Terms and Conditions have been met. This may involve sharing information with  NSW Treasury, or  a delegated government agency,  for this purpose.

  • contacting you, or a public/private authority,  to request/verify/confirm the information you provide in support of your application, for the purpose of processing and auditing your application, subject to applicable law

  • verifying your identity and eligibility information through the VEVO  service which is administered by the Department of Home Affairs, and the Certificate of Enrolment check which is administered by the Department of Education, Skills and Employment

  • confirming that the Crisis Accommodation Scheme  is working, including reporting on and evaluating the Scheme

  • other directly related purposes.

To perform this service, Service NSW may collect personal information that includes:

  • full name
  • date of birth
  • contact details
  • information about your current living arrangements
  • information about your passport and visa details
  • information about your education and enrolment
  • relevant related documentation.

You are not required by law to provide the above information, however, if you do not provide any relevant information when requested, your grant application may be rejected, or delayed, if the information is necessary to make a decision on your application.

For the purpose of performing our functions, Service NSW may disclose your personal information to Study NSW and to relevant accommodation providers, including homestay providers, who have been approved to deliver student accommodation. Service NSW will otherwise not provide your personal information to third parties for any purposes not already stated in this privacy statement, or to which you have not otherwise consented, unless Service NSW is required, or authorised, by law to do so. Service NSW and its NSW Government partners are not responsible for administering visas and is not collecting your information to assess your visa status.

Service NSW may share de-identified information for research and statistical purposes. De-identified information and aggregate data will be provided to third parties outside of Service NSW. For example, to evaluate program management and to answer questions such as: total number of applications received and declined.

Service NSW will take reasonable security measures to protect your personal information from loss, unauthorised access, use, modification, disclosure or other misuse. Your personal information will be held and disposed of securely at:
