Recovery centres and assistance points are operating across Greater Sydney, the Central Coast and the Hunter to support communities recovering from the recent flood event.

Minister for Emergency Services and Resilience and Minister for Flood Recovery Steph Cooke said the multi-agency hubs are designed to help flood-affected individuals, families, farmers and business owners begin the clean-up and recovery process.

“This is an incredibly challenging and emotional time, particularly for those who have experienced severe weather and flooding multiple times over the past 18 months,” Ms Cooke said.

“As we transition from response to recovery, it can be difficult for people to know where to start. Recovery centres and assistance points function as a first port of call for people needing access to the various flood recovery supports on offer."

“Whether you need to replace damaged documents, receive assistance with the physical clean-up or access emergency accommodation or mental health services, our centres and assistance points can help.”

Resilience NSW Commissioner Shane Fitzsimmons said it was important to make accessing support as straightforward as possible. 

“Through our recovery centres and assistance points, NSW Government agencies, community organisations and welfare bodies can all be found in one spot,” Commissioner Fitzsimmons said.

“They are there to connect individuals and families with a range of services and offer support, as they begin the long and complex recovery process.”

There are a total of 17 recovery centres and assistance points across NSW, including eight in the Northern Rivers which have been operating since March:

  1. Ballina recovery assistance point, 57 Gallons Road, Ballina;

  2. Broke recovery assistance point, Broke Catholic Church, Corner of Wollombi Street & Adair Street, Broke;

  3. Bulga recovery assistance point, Community Centre, Corner of Putty Road & The Inlet Road, Bulga;

  4. Camden recovery assistance point, Narrellan Child, Family and Community Centre, Queen Street;

  5. Chipping Norton recovery assistance point, Chipping Norton Community Centre, Central Ave and Ascot Drive, Chipping Norton;

  6. Coraki recovery assistance point, Coraki Youth Hall, 77 Bridge Street, Coraki;

  7. Grafton recovery assistance point, 126-144 Pound Street (beneath Grafton Library), Grafton;

  8. Lismore recovery assistance point, Harold Fredricks car park, Magellan Street, Lismore;

  9. Londonderry recovery assistance point, Londonderry Neighbourhood Centre, 360 Carrington Road;

  10. Mullumbimby recovery centre, Corner to Tincogan and Gordon Street, Mullumbimby;

  11. Murwillumbah recovery centre, 10-14 Tumbulgum Road, Murwillumbah;

  12. Nimbin recovery assistance point, 71 Cullen Street, Nimbin;

  13. Spencer/Gunderman recovery assistance point, Spencer Community Hall, 4776 Wisemans Ferry Road, Spencer;

  14. The Entrance recovery assistance point, The Entrance Community Centre, corner of Battley and Oakley Avenues;

  15. Windsor recovery centre, South Windsor Family Centre, 6 Greenhills Way, South Windsor;

  16. Wiseman’s Ferry recovery assistance point, The Retreat at Wisemans, 10am to 2pm; and

  17. Woodburn recovery centre, McGearys Bros, 9630 Pacific Highway, Woodburn.
