More than a thousand budding entrepreneurs have been helped as part of the Easy to do Business program.
It can be tough out there for small business, so Service NSW and the Office of the NSW Small Business Commissioner teamed up to take the confusion out of getting up and running.
The Service NSW initiative launched with a focus on cafes, restaurants and small bars and has recently added a similar offering for the housing construction sector.
Here's another win for business: the service is free. Service NSW can help businesses with everything from getting a council development application right the first time, to applying for outdoor dining and liquor licencing. This is offered through a comprehensive online dashboard to help customers track the steps they need to take to open their doors faster and an over the phone business concierge support service.
The program’s Business Concierge has now helped more than 1000 people start or grow their business.
Service NSW Chief Executive Officer Damon Rees welcomed news of the numbers
“This is a great milestone for the program and I’m proud of how we’re making business easier for so many people,” Mr Rees said.
“This means small businesses can open their doors and employ people faster, which is fantastic both for the business owner and for the NSW economy,” he said.
2018 has also seen more councils sign up to Easy to do Business. Their involvement makes it easier for business owners to engage with all levels of government.
The initiative delivered by Service NSW in partnership with the Office of the NSW Small Business Commissioner and the Better Regulation Division means a small bar could be up and running six months faster thanks to clearer information and simpler processes.
