To give farmers and their families some much needed drought relief from 30 July 2018 we’re waiving registration charges on Class 1 agricultural vehicles.

What is a Class 1 agricultural vehicle?

A Class 1 agricultural vehicle:

  • exceeds one or more of the following prescribed dimensions
    • 2.5m wide
    • 4.3m high
    • 12.5m long
    • 42.5 tonnes gross mass (or exceeding a statutory axle mass limit)
  • has its own automotive power
  • is built to perform agricultural tasks.

Am I eligible?

The measures are intended to give relief to farmers. The waiver of registration fees applies to new registrations and renewals of Class 1 agricultural vehicles that are oversize and/or overmass.

You will need to complete a Drought Relief Declaration which supports the fact that you are a farmer with a Class 1 agricultural vehicle and have been impacted by the drought.

Are trailers included?

Class 1 agricultural trailers that are towed by an agricultural vehicle do not require registration.

Class 1 agricultural trailers that are not towed by an agricultural vehicle require registration. These trailers are not eligible for the waiver.

Does this apply to light vehicles?

Light vehicles are not eligible.

My Class 1 agricultural vehicle was due for renewal after 30 July but I paid it earlier. Can I get a refund?

Yes - just visit a Service Centre to complete the Drought Relief Declaration or call Service NSW for further information.

What other support is available?
