Changing the name of your venue can be completed through a simple application.
There are some restrictions on the new name and it must reflect the nature of your business. Limitations include:

Applications that do not have all the required information will be delayed. We will contact you to request the missing details to progress the application quickly however we do rely on your speedy response to progress your application.

A change of boundaries modifies the footprint or size of the licensed areas of your premises.
Any changes to authorisations applying to your licence, for example: an extended trading authorisation (ETA), primary service authorisation (PSA), minors area authorisation - will not automatically extend to a new boundary. To include your existing authorisation within any boundary extension, you must lodge the appropriate application for that authorisation.
To illustrate the change in boundaries you’ll need to produce a plan that outlines the current licensed footprint in red and the proposed licensed area in a second colour. Be sure to include a key to show what the colours represent. Black and white plans will not be accepted.
You must also use a third colour to outline any existing authorisations on your licence, such as those for primary service, extended trading hours or minors’ areas.
If you have a hotel licence and your proposed footprint extension will impact your Minors Area Authorisation (MAA) – you must also lodge an application to change your MAA.

Change of boundaries applications take about eight weeks in total once all the required information has been submitted. This includes the Noticeboard period of 30 days.
Applications that do not have all the required information will be delayed. We will contact you to request the missing details, however we do rely on your speedy response with the missing information to progress your application.
Liquor licences are attached to a premises, not a person. To relocate your business, you must apply to take your liquor licence with you. This is called a removal application.
We treat removal applications like applications for new liquor licences. The fee to remove a liquor licence is the same as the fee to apply for a new liquor licence of the same type.

Your liquor license may have conditions that limit the operation of your business. You can apply to change your license conditions should your circumstances or business needs change.
Conditions on your liquor license are imposed by either the Independent Liquor & Gaming Authority (ILGA) or the Secretary.

Live entertainment venues in Kings Cross may apply for an exemption to the lock out and last drinks conditions. This exemption will allow a later lock out time of 2am and last drinks of 3.30am.

With a MOETA, premises outside the metropolitan area can trade until 3am on up to 12 occasions over a 12-month period.

There is no application fee for this authorization, however it attracts an annual loading. Refer to the Liquor Fee Schedule for the trading hours loading.
Once you have been granted a multi-occasion extended trading authorization, you must use the online multi-occasion extended trading form to notify us of the dates you'll be extending your trading hours for functions.
You must notify us at least six weeks before each occasion. You can notify us earlier than six weeks and you can notify us of more than one date on the notification form.
To change the current conditions or trading hours on your license, you must check if you also need to vary the development consent for your premises. It is up to you to lodge the relevant application with your local council.

A change of tenancy application takes about 12 to 16 weeks after all the required information has been submitted.

The licensee of an on-premises licence can apply to change the kind of business or activity carried out on the licensed premises. You may need to complete a Community Impact Statement (CIS) before applying.

A business that is looking to change from one licence type to a new liquor licence will need to apply to surrender the current licence and separately apply for a new licence. This involves two separate lodgements that should be done at the same time.

A corporation can hold a liquor license just as an individual can. The difference being that the corporate licensee must appoint an approved manager to the licensed premises.
There is a two-step process of approval and appointment where we accept all applications on behalf of the Independent Liquor & Gaming Authority Board (ILGA).
We need to determine that the proposed approved manager is a fit and proper person for the role.

The 6-hour closure period is a continuous block of 6 hours when you cannot sell or supply liquor on your licensed premises. The same 6-hour block applies to each day.
The 6-hour closure – usually from 4am to 10am – applies to any license or extended trading authorization.
You need to change the 6-hour closure period on your license if it conflicts with new trading hours you want to establish.
You can lodge applications to change your trading hours and applications to change your 6-hour closure period together. We'll assess them at the same time.
To change the current conditions or trading hours on your licence, you must check if you also need to vary the development consent for your premises. It is up to you to lodge the relevant application with your local council.
