The Public Guardian is a division of NSW Trustee & Guardian that promotes the rights and interests of people with disabilities through the practice of guardianship, advocacy and education.

The Public Guardian can be appointed by a court or tribunal to make decisions for a person who does not have the capacity to make their own decisions about their lifestyle, health care, accommodation and the services they receive.

The Public Guardian also has a Private Guardian Support Unit, which provides free and confidential support to legally appointed guardians in their role.
