Service NSW is collecting your personal information to assist in planning its 2030 Customer Strategy, and as part of your participation in customer research activities.

Service NSW gives priority to protecting the privacy of your personal information. We do this by handling personal information in a responsible manner and in accordance with the NSW Privacy Laws: Privacy and Personal Information Protection Act 1998 and the Health Records and Information Privacy Act 2002.

Types of information we collect

Service NSW may collect your personal and business information, including:

  • your household composition and marriage status
  • your age
  • your current and expected life stages
  • your use of languages other than English
  • whether you identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander
  • your suburb or postcode
  • whether you have been impacted by natural disasters
  • your employment status
  • the industry you work in
  • whether you have any ongoing conditions that impact your ability to undertake tasks
  • whether you require support or assistance interacting with Service NSW
  • the feedback and responses you provide while participating in customer research activities.

This information may be collected in addition to your name and the email address you provided to Service NSW when you first consented to being contacted about participating in future research. 

Participating in the survey and providing us with the requested information is not required by law – it's voluntary.

Purpose of collecting your information

Service NSW is collecting your personal information for the following purpose:

  • to use the responses and feedback that you provide through your participation in customer research to evaluate and improve the way we shape Service NSW for the future.

Using and sharing your information

Your personal information will be used to assist Service NSW in planning its 2030 Customer Strategy. We will only use your personal information in other ways where we are authorised or required to do so by law.

The personal information that you provide to Service NSW will only be held for a limited time, before being de-identified, for the purpose of assisting Service NSW to plan its 2030 Customer Strategy. Once the information has been de-identified, it will no longer be possible to determine who has provided the survey responses and they will not be linked to your MyServiceNSW Account in any way.

We may use, share and publish research reports that include your de-identified feedback, comments and actions. This means that your name and other identifying information will not be included in research reports or linked to your personal information.

Service NSW will not provide your personal information to any third parties, unless Service NSW is required or authorised by law to do so.

Protecting your information

Service NSW will take reasonable security measures to protect your personal information from loss, unauthorised access, use, modification, disclosure or other misuse.

Accessing your information

You may ask for access to the information we hold about you at any time and request to update, correct or amend your personal information by contacting Service NSW on 13 77 88.
