The virtual healthcare service provides care for urgent but non life-threatening illnesses or conditions, including:
- coughs, colds, fevers and flu
- respiratory ailments
- vomiting and diarrhoea
- minor infections and rashes.
The service is designed to help residents across Sydney avoid a wait for a GP, or a visit to a hospital's emergency department. Using video conferencing technology it connects the patient with the relevant medical clinician in the multidisciplinary team.
You do not need an appointment and the service can be free.
You will need a computer, phone or device with working camera to receive assistance.
You can access the 24-hour service by calling HealthDirect on 1800 022 222.
When you call, a registered nurse will assess your condition and refer you to the virtual care service where appropriate.
