It's important you know about upcoming elections in your area so you know when to vote.
If you fail to vote, you may be fined.
Not knowing about an election is not a valid reason for failing to vote.
About the free election reminder service
If you would like to get an email or text message (SMS) reminder whenever a local government or state election is coming up, you can register online for the NSW election reminder service.
You must be enrolled to vote in NSW to sign up for the election reminder service.
How to sign up
- Go to the Check my enrolment details online form
- Enter your details exactly as they appear on the electoral roll
- Select the 'Verify enrolment' button
- If your enrolment is confirmed you will have the option to 'Sign up for free election reminders'
- Enter a mobile number and/or email address to receive updates
Note:
- Check your device settings to ensure reminders are not blocked
- Election reminders might not be delivered due to your device or app settings.
- A delayed or undelivered reminder is not an excuse for not voting.
- The NSW election reminder service will only remind you of future local government or state elections, not federal elections.
