If you're a war veteran with a service related disability, you may be eligible for an ex-defence personnel Transport Concession Entitlement Card.

This card entitles you to free travel on most public transport in NSW.

You'll also get a free Opal card. The Opal card lets you open gates at train stations and ferry wharves without staff.

You must carry your transport concession entitlement card (proof of entitlement) when travelling with a concession ticket or a concession Opal card, or you may be fined.

For more information, including eligibility and how to apply, refer to the Transport for NSW website.

Blinded soldiers, World War 1 veterans' widows and recipients of the Victoria Cross or the George Cross can get a different pass for free travel.

If you're not eligible for a Transport Concession Entitlement Card, but you hold a DVA Veteran Gold Card, you can apply for a Gold Opal card
