Introduction

For your business to operate as an approved registered training organisation (RTO) under the NSW Food Safety Supervisor (FSS) program, you need to apply to the NSW Food Authority.

Note: Each FSS trainer in your organisation must complete the relevant section of the application form.

Eligibility

There is a range of criteria that must be met to be approved as an RTO under the Food Safety Supervisor program.

They include, but are not limited to, your business:

What you need

  • your business details (ABN/ACN)
  • a copy of the Certificate of Registration of Business Name (if applicable)
  • a copy of your ASQA RTO certificate and scope of registration
  • the units of competency offered and the methods of delivery
  • your payment (as indicated on the form)
  • the PDF form – 'Food Safety Supervisor Program –  RTO Application'

Each FSS trainer in your organisation will need to provide certified copies of their:

  • food safety supervisor certificate  
  • training qualification
  • statement of attainment for the valid FSS units of competency
  • current resumé.

How to apply

  1. Select the 'Download PDF form' button.
  2. Complete and sign the form.
  3. Gather the required documents.
  4. Submit your application with payment by mail, fax or email, to the details on the form.

Applications are processed in about 6 weeks.

More information

  • If your application is successful, the RTO approval lasts for 12 months.  
  • Approved RTOs will be published on the Food Authority’s website. 
  • A ‘certified copy’ is a photocopy that has been compared with the original and endorsed as a true copy by a Justice of the Peace (JP), or a public officer such as a police officer.
