Introduction
If you hold a company or partnership contractor licence to contract, sub-contract or advertise to do residential building, trade or any specialist work you must update the licence details within 7 days if:
- you have changed your address or contact details (email address or phone number)
- a new director has been appointed or a director has been removed
- there is a change to the nominated qualified supervisor.
Significant penalties apply if a nominated supervisor or a company or partnership does not tell Building Commission within 7 days of any changes that affect a contractor licence.
Change of address and contact details
What you need
You need:
- your licence number
- your old and new contact details
- the PDF form – 'Notification form – Change of address and/or contact details'.
How to change
- Download the form Notification form – Change of address and/or contact details – PDF.
- Complete and sign the form.
- Submit the form:
- by email to the address on the form or
- in person at a Service NSW Centre.
Change of company director
What you need
You need:
- your licence number
- a current ASIC company extract downloaded in the past 30 days
- the PDF form – 'Notification form – Add or remove a director'.
Complete the relevant part of the form.
- Part A – If a new director has been appointed to a company that holds a licence. The form must be completed by the new director who will be added to the company licence.
- Part B – If a director has been removed from a company licence holder. The form can be completed by either the former director or a current director of the company.
How to change
- Download Notification form – Add or remove a director – PDF.
- Complete and sign the form.
- Submit the form:
- by email to the address on the form or
- in person at a Service NSW Centre.
Other changes
Directors must also notify Building Commission NSW if the company:
- has an administrator appointed
- becomes subject to a winding up order
- has a liquidator appointed.

Change a nominated qualified supervisor
What you need
You need:
- details of company or partnership contractor licence (to be completed by a director or member)
- details of nominated qualified supervisor (to be completed by nominee)
- the PDF form – 'Application form – Add and/or remove a nominated qualified supervisor'.
How to change
- Download the form Application form – Add and/or remove a nominated qualified supervisor.
- Complete and sign the form.
- Submit the form:
- by email to the address on the form or
- in person at a Service NSW Centre.
Notification requirements
- Nominated qualified supervisors must notify Building Commission NSW within 7 days of leaving a company or partnership.
- A company or partnership must notify Building Commission NSW within 7 days if you do not have a nominated qualified supervisor.
- Your licence may be cancelled if you do not have an acceptable nominated qualified supervisor for more than 30 days unless you have prior consent from Building Commission NSW.
