Introduction
The NSW carers register is a restricted register and promotes the safety and wellbeing of children and young people in statutory or supported out-of-home care. It's a centralised database of people who are authorised, or who apply for authorisation as carers, and provides the designated carer agencies with a common resource for sharing information. It requires agencies to certify that prescribed checks and assessments have been conducted, and holds information about carer applicants, and carer and household member histories.
