Introduction
If you're wanting to find out if any of your items of plant, or plant designs have already been registered, you can request SafeWork NSW do a search of their records.
Separate application requests must be lodged if:
- you want both plant item and plant design registrations searched, or
- plant items are registered at more than one location.
Eligibility
The registered owner of the plant item or plant design, or their authorised nominee can request a search.
What you need
- the PDF form – 'Application to search registered plant item or design records'
- a letter of authority from the registered owner (if applicable)
- the reason for requesting the plant item or design search
- details of the item or design (if known, or applicable), such as:
- registration number
- types of item or design
- serial number or drawing/model number
- working location of the item (if applicable)
- your payment.
How to request
- Select the 'Download PDF form' button.
- Complete 'Application to search registered plant item or design records – PDF'.
- Make your secure payment.
- Email your application, supporting documents and payment receipt details to the address on the form.

- Credit or debit card (MasterCard, Visa, American Express, UnionPay or Diners Club)
- Paypal.
Fees and charges
You may need to pay a merchant fee when paying by credit or debit card.
