The NSW government has extended the measures it introduced in 2020 to assist tenants impacted by COVID-19, to 26 March 2021.
Those measures include, but are not limited to:
- restrictions on when landlords can evict tenants due to rental arrears
- extended notice periods for certain other lease termination reasons
- allowing tenants to terminate a tenancy agreement
- protection from being added to tenancy databases (or ‘blacklists’) for breaches of agreements.
If you're not impacted by COVID-19 you're expected to honour your existing tenancy agreements, including paying all rent and charges in full.
