Service NSW is committed to providing a welcoming and supportive environment for everyone, and we're a proud member of the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower program.

The Hidden Disabilities Sunflower program aims to empower those living with hidden disability, by making the invisible, visible, through the Sunflower symbol.

People can voluntarily choose to wear a Sunflower product such as a lanyard, wristband or pin, to indicate that they may require additional time, support or understanding. A hidden or invisible disability may include neurological, cognitive and neurodevelopment, physical, visual, auditory, sensory and processing difficulties.

Team members in our service centres are trained to recognise the Sunflower symbol.

We encourage customers who need assistance to look out for our team members wearing a Sunflower supporter pin.

Our teams will understand that you may require any of the following support during your visit:

  • additional time to complete transactions
  • additional assistance when navigating through forms and online digital services
  • adjustments or support such as a quiet space where available.

To find out more about the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower program and where you can get a Sunflower product, you can watch the video below, or visit the official Hidden Disabilities website, Instagram, Facebook or LinkedIn.

Some disabilities are hidden and not immediately obvious.

So you may not recognise that someone has a hidden disability nor understand the challenges they can face in their daily life.

The Hidden Disability Sunflower helps by discreetly indicating that the wearer has a hidden disability and may need additional support, help, understanding or just a little more time.

So if you spot someone who has chosen to wear the Sunflower, please be patient and ask if you can help and don't forget to always be kind and show respect.
