Keeping your personal information secure is as important to us as it is to you.

The Service NSW app has been built with your security in mind.

We use some third party services provided by Google and Android to help decide whether or not the phone or device your information is stored on is secure.

These services check if the phone has:

  • had its operating system replaced by unofficial software (often called ‘jailbreaking’ or ‘rooting’)
  • not been certified by Google as a trustworthy device
  • other untrustworthy software on it (like ROM managers).

Sometimes, these services also detect issues that you might not be aware of. For example, you might be using:

  • a second-hand or refurbished device that previously had unofficial software on it
  • a handset made by a manufacturer that isn't certified by Google due to known issues with malware, spyware or bloatware being pre-installed on the device by the manufacturer.

Things you can do:

  • See if the device is certified under Play Store settings. Get instructions
  • Check for custom ROM manager apps that might have accidentally been replicated to the device at the time of upgrading. Look for apps that have the word 'ROM', 'manager' or 'flash' in their name and see if they're described as custom ROM apps. Uninstalling these apps and restarting your device should allow our app to run again.
