The Public Guardian is a division of NSW Trustee and Guardian that promotes the rights and interests of people with disabilities through the practice of guardianship, advocacy and education.

The Public Guardian can be appointed by a court or tribunal to make decisions for a person who does not have the capacity to make their own decisions about their lifestyle, health care, accommodation and the services they receive.

The Public Guardian also has a Private Guardian Support Unit, which provides free and confidential support to legally appointed guardians in their role.
