Why are we collecting your personal information?

The Service NSW Business Bureau is collecting your personal information to assist with and support your business-related enquiries. We may collect this information through:

  • the online webform
  • in person  
  • telephone calls
  • Live Chat.

What personal information do we collect?

Personal information the Service NSW Business Bureau may collect from you includes your:

  • name  
  • company name and information
  • contact details such as email address, phone number and business address  
  • Australian Business Number (“ABN”) or Australian Company Number (“ACN”)
  • Australian and New Zealand Standard Industrial Classification (ANZSIC).

Depending on the nature of the business-related support you require, we may also collect additional information from you in the future. This includes:

  • your residential address including suburb, postcode, and Local Government Area (LGA)
  • your gender
  • your national, racial, or cultural origins, including whether you identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander
  • any requests for interpreter service (and requested language)
  • whether you have a disability
  • whether you have any accessibility requirements that require additional support.

How we will use and disclose this information

The Service NSW Business Bureau may use personal information it has collected about you to assist and support you with your business-related enquiries. This may include:

  • providing you with information and guidance in relation to your business including accessing business support programs, applying for grants and licences, working with councils, understanding applicable regulations, and connecting to services and advice
  • providing you with further information and guidance about Service NSW Business Bureau services, grants and applications, licences and permits, vouchers or programs and/or small business fees and rebates
  • contacting you to communicate about your business-related query
  • responding to and communicating with you about complaints and enquiries in relation to your business-related query
  • providing you with information about the Business Connect advisory and Aboriginal Business Advisory Initiative services, including arranging contact with an independent business advisor
  • other directly related purposes.

Depending on the nature of the support you require, the Service NSW Business Bureau may share your business information and query with one or more of our government partner agencies that provide specialised assistance, expertise or services outside of the Service NSW Business Bureau.

We will not share your national, racial, or cultural origins, including whether you identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander with these agencies.

We will tell you which agencies it proposes to share your information with at the time or prior to doing so and will get your consent to do so.

We will maintain and may use information collected about you for internal administrative purposes, including for the purpose of its related interactions with you. We will not disclose your personal information to anyone else unless you have provided your consent, or we are required or authorised to do so by law.

Providing us with the requested information is not required by law. However, if you do not provide us with the requested information, it may not be able to provide adequate assistance and support to you with your enquiries.
