Why we are collecting your personal information

Service NSW is collecting your personal information through the Disaster Assistance Finder to provide you with a personalised list of available programs and services. We’ll also provide you with further assistance if you decide to book a Disaster Assistance personal support appointment with the Service NSW customer care program.

Types of personal information we collect

Service NSW may collect your personal information through the Disaster Assistance Finder questionnaire, including

  • the type of disaster impacting you
  • how you the disaster you are experiencing has impacted you
  • whether you are of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander origin
  • your email address.

If you request further support from our customer care service, we may collect further personal information from you, including:

  • your full name
  • your phone number
  • your residential address
  • your email address.

How we will use and disclose your personal information

Service NSW will use and disclose your personal information in the following ways:

  • to provide you with personalised results on the types of assistance for which you may be eligible
  • to email a link to your personalised results
  • if you have booked an appointment, our staff may use your personalised results to provide you with further information on the types of assistance for which you may be eligible.

Service NSW will not provide your personal information to third parties unless we are required or authorised, by law to do so.

Service NSW collects, maintains, and uses information about you for our internal administrative purposes, including for the purpose of interacting with you.

Whether you are required by law to provide us with this information

Providing us with the requested information is not required by law – it's voluntary. However, if you choose not to provide the requested information, we may not be able to provide you with:

  • personalised recommendations, or 
  • further information on the types of assistance for which you may be eligible.
