This privacy collection notice relates to Small Business Advisory.

Why your personal information is being collected

Service NSW is delivering the Small Business Advisory program to provide support to NSW small businesses.  

As part of this program, Service NSW engages contracted service providers to deliver one-on-one business advisory services, events, webinars and workshops.

Service NSW collects your personal information to:

  • register your participation in the program
  • facilitate the delivery of advisory services, workshops and networking events
  • enable Service NSW and the service providers to contact you and provide support
  • manage and report on the program. 

Types of personal information we collect

We may collect your personal information during registration and as part of your participation in the program. 

This may include:  

  • your name  
  • your contact information (such as email address, phone number and business address, including suburb and postcode) 
  • information about your business, including your business name, Australian Business Number, your role in the business, the number of employees, industry type, the stage of your business and assistance you are seeking 
  • whether your business is an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander Business, a multiculturally owned business, and/or a regional business 
  • information about the services and advice provided you by the service provider. 

During advisory sessions, the service provider may collect additional information from you to support the delivery of tailored business advice to you.  This information may be shared with Service NSW.  

How we will use and disclose this information

Service NSW collects and uses your personal information to administer and deliver the program.  

Service NSW will share your personal information with our service providers for the purpose of contacting you and delivering advisory services.   

We may also use your personal information to: 

  • contact you about your participation in the program 
  • manage and administer program services 
  • respond to enquiries or feedback, including complaints   
  • contact you to obtain feedback and provide additional support. 

We may share your information with other NSW Government agencies where reasonably necessary to refer you to relevant business support services. 

We will not disclose your personal information to any other parties unless you consent, or the disclosure is required or authorised by law.  

SNSW service providers will handle your personal information on behalf of Service NSW for the purpose of delivering advisory services, workshops, events and webinars under this program. 

This includes: 

  • contacting you to schedule and deliver advisory sessions 
  • collecting relevant information from you to inform tailored business advice 
  • seeking feedback on the services provided 
  • notifying Service NSW if additional support is required or available to you 
  • notifying you about webinars, events and workshops. 

Service providers are required to manage your information in accordance with applicable privacy laws and contractual obligations.  

Whether you are required by law to provide us with this information

Providing us with the requested information is not required by law. However, if you choose not to provide us with the requested information, we may not be able to provide you with program services.
