Since 2025, the NSW Government has helped low-income households replace 11,800 inefficient top-loading washing machines with water and energy efficient front-loading machines.

The washing machine exchange program is run by the NSW Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water.

Who can apply

You can apply for the washing machine exchange program if you:

  • are an eligible low-income household
  • hold a valid concession card
  • have an existing top-loading washing machine to swap
  • have never taken part in the program before.

What to expect

If your application is successful, you will pay $250 (including GST), which includes:

  • the front load washing machine
  • delivery
  • installation
  • 2-year warranty.
