Before applying for a liquor licence or licence authorisation, you may need to prepare a Statement of Risks and Potential Effects (SoRPE). A SoRPE describes the possible impacts that may be caused to a community by granting a liquor licence or authorisation in the local area.
What you need to include
As part of preparing a SoRPE you'll need to give a description of the local area. This should include other licensed premises and significant community facilities such as hospitals, churches and parks.
Information should also be included about local special interest groups or individuals, such as schools and colleges, older people, and people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.
Controls or risk minimisation strategies need to be included to address any harms that may occur as a result of granting the licence.
Community consultation
It is not mandatory to consult with the community, but results from any consultation can be included in the SoRPE.
