Introduction
The Great Western Highway at Victoria Pass in NSW is closed to all traffic in both directions for urgent road repairs. The NSW Government has announced a support package to assist small businesses and councils across the Blue Mountains and Central West region impacted by the closure.
If your business has been impacted by the Great Western Highway road closure, you may be eligible for free, tailored business advisory support.
Advisory support will be available from 9 June to 9 September 2026.
Types of support available
You may be able to access:
- One-on-one advisory sessions, which will be delivered online or over the phone. An independent business advisor can work with you to manage disruption and plan ahead.
- In-person local networking events – more information about these events will be available at a later date.
If your business is impacted by the closure, advisors can help with:
- managing business disruption
- helping customers access your business
- cash flow management
- debt management
- supply chain issues
- managing contracts and commitments
- responding to staff impacts
- finding ways to diversify or adapt
- business planning.
Eligibility
To be eligible, your business must:
- have fewer than 20 full-time equivalent employees
- be physically located in and have an ABN registered to one of the following impacted Local Government Areas (LGAs):
- Bathurst Regional Council
- Blayney Shire Council
- Blue Mountains City Council
- Cabonne Shire Council
- Dubbo Regional Council
- Forbes Shire Council
- Hawkesbury City Council
- Lithgow City Council
- Mid-Western Regional Council
- Oberon Council
- Orange City Council.

What you need
When you register for advisory support, please have the following information ready:
- your contact details including phone number and email address
- business suburb or postcode
- industry type
- your business name or ABN.
What happens next
After you register, you’ll receive an email with a reference number.
An advisor from an independent service provider will contact you by phone to follow up on your request.
If you registered interest in one-on-one advisory sessions
One-on-one advisory sessions will be available online or over the phone, Monday to Friday.
If you’re eligible, an advisor will help you arrange your session at a suitable date and time.
To help prepare for the session and assess your needs, they’ll ask a few questions about how the road closure has impacted your business.
If you registered interest in the in-person networking events
An advisor will share event details with you when they become available, including dates and locations.
Further support
Support grants – NSW Rural Assistance Authority
Small business support grants are available through the NSW Rural Assistance Authority:
- Up to $25,000 is available to eligible small businesses in Hartley, Hartley Vale, Little Hartley and Mount Victoria.
- Up to $10,000 is available to eligible small businesses in all other regional towns and localities within NSW postcodes 2785, 2786 and 2790, as well as Oberon and Duckmaloi in postcode 2787.
