If you see someone throwing a cigarette butt from a car or truck, you can report the incident online.
The NSW Fire Service has an online form for reporting cigarette butt tossers.
You will need to provide:
- your contact details
- the registration details of the vehicle involved
- the make, model or colour details of the vehicle (if possible)
- the date and time you saw the activity
- the location of the activity (description as accurate as possible).
Note: Reports must be made within 14 days of the incident occurring.

- The information collected from the form is used for the purposes of confirming the vehicle details, and investigating whether an offence has been committed.
- There are heavy penalties for people caught throwing lit cigarette butts from vehicles, especially on days of total fire ban.
