Online service maintenance

With Energy Switch you can compare the plans of all NSW household electricity providers, and switch to a different plan if you want to.

If you receive your bill directly from your electricity provider and you meet the eligibility requirements, use the Energy Switch tool to compare your plan with other available plans. If you decide to switch providers, we’ll initiate the switch process for you. 


  • If you'd like to switch providers, you'll need to be the account holder of a current electricity plan in NSW.  

If you're a business customer or on an embedded network (meaning your building is under a separate supply contract) you're not eligible.

What you need

  • a digital PDF of your electricity bill (e-bill)
  • a MyServiceNSW Account if you'd like to switch your plan.

How to compare

  1. Check the eligibility requirements.
  2. Select the ‘Compare online’ button.
  3. Upload your electricity e-bill.
  4. Follow the prompts and complete all fields.
  5. Review and compare the available plans.

If you want to switch providers:

  1. Select your desired plan.
  2. Review the plan.
  3. Select ‘Confirm selection’.
  4. Log in, or create your MyServiceNSW Account.
  5. Follow the prompts and complete all fields.
  6. Select ‘Request switch’.

More information

  • Energy Switch is free for all NSW residents.
  • If you’ve requested a switch through us, your new electricity provider will contact you in 2 to 5 business days to confirm your Explicit Informed Consent. Once you’ve provided your consent and agreed to the terms and conditions of your new electricity provider, there will be a 10-day cooling off period.
  • Your new electricity provider will organise a meter read to complete the switch process.
