Introduction
Before engaging a property agent or a licensed person (licensee) it is important to check they have a current licence for the work you want done.
You can do these checks for free, using the NSW Government Verify NSW search tool.
Verify NSW allows you to search more than 20 public registers and to access data from the property and real estate agent register.
What you can check
You can check the following property agent licences and certificates online:
- assistant agent certificate of registration
- corporation property licence
- individual property licence.
You can search for a public record of your own licence or certificate details, if needed.
Note: When you are checking a company or partnership licence, you may need to carry out separate searches for relevant licences held by directors and partners.
How to check
- Locate any of the following details for your search:
- licensee name
- licence number
- Australian Business Number (ABN)
- Australian Company Number (ACN)
- location (suburb or postcode).
- Go to Verify NSW Property and real estate agents register
- Enter details in the search boxes or filter by licence/certificate, suburb or postcode, or registration status.
- Select the 'Search' button to view results.
