Call 000 in an emergency

If you have a health emergency, call Triple Zero (000) or go to a hospital emergency department immediately. Examples of medical emergencies include sudden collapse, chest pressure or pain lasting more than 10 minutes, breathing difficulty and uncontrollable bleeding.

Use the online search tool as a guide to the expected wait times in the emergency departments of participating major NSW hospitals.

You can find information on the:

  • number of patients assessed by a triage nurse and waiting for treatment
  • usual number of patients arriving in the emergency department over a 4-hour timeframe
  • number of beds/treatment spaces in the emergency department.

The most seriously ill patients are seen immediately. As the information provided is a guide only, it doesn't indicate a specific timeframe or order in which a patient will be seen.
