You can dispose of hazardous household chemicals at household chemical cleanout events. 

The NSW Government works together with local councils to host these events, which are free and held across NSW on specified dates throughout the year.

You can drop off up to 20 litres or 20 kilograms of a single item for the following chemicals at cleanout events:

  • solvents and household cleaners
  • floor care products
  • ammonia-based cleaners
  • pesticides and herbicides
  • poisons
  • pool chemicals
  • hobby chemicals
  • motor fuels
  • paint and paint-related products
  • fluorescent globes and tubes
  • acids and alkalis
  • smoke detectors
  • gas bottles
  • fire extinguishers
  • car and household batteries
  • motor and cooking oils.
