Introduction

If you or your organisation hold an authority to fundraise in NSW, you must lodge an annual return within 6 months of the end of the financial year.

The return must be lodged even if no appeal has been held, and no money received.

Eligibility

All holders of an authority to fundraise.

ACNC registered organisations

If you're an Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission (ACNC) registered organisation that also holds a NSW authority to fundraise you have reporting obligations to both ACNC and NSW Fair Trading.

You can meet both these obligations by providing your NSW annual return and statement of compliance with your ACNC Annual Information Statement (AIS) directly to the ACNC portal.

What you need

  • your charitable fundraising authority number (CFN) which must match the registered number
  • details of:
    • the authority holder
    • the beneficiaries, charitable purpose and duration of your fundraising appeals
    • traders (if applicable)
    • financial statements
    • the audit report (for appeals that raised more than $250,000 in a financial year).
