Notify SafeWork NSW of asbestos removal work

Introduction

You must notify SafeWork NSW if you plan to:

• remove more than 10m² of non-friable asbestos
• remove any amount of friable asbestos.

Notification must be given at least 5 calendar days before starting the work. 

You can lodge your notification online.

Where asbestos must be removed immediately, phone SafeWork NSW on 13 10 50.

What you need

• your licence and business details including ABN
• your supervisor/s personal and contact details
• details of the clearance inspector
• the asbestos assessor licence number (if applicable)
• details of the site owner/controller for whom the removal work is being done
• details of the work site and the type of work being undertaken.

How to notify

1. Select the 'Notify online' button.
2. Log in or create your account.
3. Complete the required fields.

For emergency removals

1. Contact SafeWork NSW on 13 10 50.
2. Lodge an online notification within 24 hours of the telephone notification.

Notification of respirable asbestos fibre levels at more than 0.02 fibres/ml

If respirable asbestos fibre levels exceeds 0.02 fibres/ml in the removal area the asbestos removalist must contact SafeWork NSW on 13 10 50 or by email to contact@safework.nsw.gov.au.
