Introduction
The NSW Government is introducing a new Community Services Industry portable long service leave scheme on 1 July 2025. Levies and record-keeping responsibilities will only be calculated from 1 July 2025 onwards. Find out how the scheme works and what types of workers are eligible.
Eligibility
Eligible employers are people who employ one or more persons to do community service work or supply a person through a labour hire arrangement to do community service work.
Community service work is defined as:
- work to provide a community service, or
- work for an employer, if the predominant purpose of the employer is to provide a community service.

What you need
- MyServiceNSW Account
Business details:
an ABN or ACN
primary address for the business you're registering
registered office address (if you're a corporation).
Supporting information:
contact information listed on the Australian Business Register if you're applying on behalf of the business.
How to apply
- Select the 'Start registration' button.
- Log in, or create your MyServiceNSW Account.
- Follow the prompts to register for the scheme.
More information
- If you have multiple businesses, you will need to have separate ABNs for each application.
- After your registration is received, it will be reviewed by Service NSW and you'll be notified of the outcome. This may take up to 5 business days.
- Service NSW will provide registered businesses with details on how to take part in the scheme.
- If you're applying on behalf of the business, the principal authority will have to accept or decline the application in the Business Profile before the registration is completed.
