Renewing your certificate

You'll be sent a renewal form before your current tow truck driver certificate expires. It will tell you whether you're eligible for a 1, 3, or 5-year licence.

Make sure you renew before your present certificate expires. Working under an expired certificate is illegal.

Expired certificates can be 'restored' (using the renewal form) if no more than 3 months have passed since the expiry date. If more than 3 months have passed, you'll need to reapply for your certificate.

When you apply for renewal, your driving record will be checked and you'll need to:

  • provide a photocopy of your unrestricted Australian driver licence (front and back)
  • make the renewal payment by credit card or PayPal using the payment portal and entering the receipt number on the renewal form.

All the information you need to renew your tow truck driver certificate is contained in the form – Tow truck driver certificate renewal application – PDF.

Replacing your certificate

If your tow truck driver certificate has been lost, stolen, damaged or destroyed, to replace it you'll need to:
