Introduction

If you want to change the vessel that's on your private mooring licence, you need to apply to Transport for NSW (TfNSW).

Your application will be assessed on a range of factors including:

  • the size of the vessel
  • safety of navigation
  • the environment
  • the amenity of the area.

Note: Additional approvals/permits from other agencies may also be required, so to avoid the possibility of your application not being permitted to proceed, it's recommended you contact TfNSW before purchasing a vessel.

What you need

  • the PDF form – 'Application to Change Vessel on Mooring'
  • a recent photo of the vessel
  • your proof of identity
  • your payment.

How to apply

  1. Select the 'Download PDF form' button.
  2. Complete the form and submit your application in person at a Service NSW Centre, or by post or email to the details on the form.

More information

  • The vessel must be at least 5.2 metres in length, unless otherwise approved by Transport for NSW.
  • Concessions (if applicable) are only available for vessels used solely for recreational purposes.
