Change the details on a charitable fundraising authority

When to notify

As the charitable fundraising authority holder you must notify NSW Fair Trading within 28 days if there is a change to:

• the contact person or their name or address
• the charitable purpose for which the appeal is being or is to be conducted
• your incorporation status
• any of your branches, whether commencing or ceasing
• your auditor, whether commencing or ceasing
• your traders, whether commencing or ceasing

You must also tell NSW Fair Trading within 28 days when certain events happen including when:

• you decide to stop fundraising under the authority
• your Australian Charities and Not-for-Profits Commission (ACNC) registration is revoked or suspended
• you become aware that information or a document provided in an annual return was misleading or deceptive in a material particular
• you identify a material error in an annual financial statement accompanying an annual return lodged that you have lodged
• you become insolvent, are placed in liquidation or under external administration or are wound up
• a member of your governing body is convicted of an offence involving fraud or dishonesty for which the maximum penalty on conviction is imprisonment for not less than 3 months
• you or a member of the governing body or trustee of the authority holder becomes bankrupt
• you or a member of the governing body or trustee of the authority holder is convicted of fraud or dishonesty.

Eligibility

You must be the holder of a charitable fundraising authority or be authorised by the authority holder.

What you need

To change the details on a charitable fundraising authority you need:

• your charitable fundraising authority number (CFN) which must match the registered number
• details of the:
  • authority holder
  • primary contact
  • change(s)
  • auditor, trader or contact person (if being updated).

How to change the details

• Select the 'Change online' button.

• Follow the prompts to change the details.

If you cannot make the change online:

1. Download Charitable fundraising authority – change of details – PDF.
2. Complete the form.
3. Sign the declaration.
4. Attach your supporting documents.
5. Email your information to the address on the form.
