Statutory declaration requirements
If you assist a person to make a statutory declaration by providing a language interpretation, you may need to complete a statutory declaration to confirm that you have interpreted:
- contents of the statutory declaration read aloud by the Justice of the Peace to the declarant
- warning provided by the Justice of the Peace to the declarant
- questions the Justice of the Peace asked the declarant.
Accredited interpreters
If you are an accredited interpreter, you should also declare that you:
- do not have a personal relationship with the declarant
- will receive no financial or other benefit from the matters to which the declarant’s statutory declaration relates, other than payment for professional interpretation.

Templates for a statutory declaration are available in either PDF form or editable DOC form.
