How CAPS can help
The Continuing Apprentices and Trainees Placement Service (CAPS) is a free service run by Training Services, a division within the NSW Department of Education.
When you register with CAPS your resume is shared only with registered CAPS employers that match your training needs.
You can register for CAPS multiple times throughout your apprenticeship or traineeship as long as you meet the criteria.
Eligibility
CAPS can support your job search if you:
- are a NSW apprentice or trainee and your training contract was cancelled, suspended or withdrawn before you completed your qualification
- previously started an apprenticeship or traineeship in another state or territory, but your training contract ended before completion
- continue your formal training through your Registered Training Provider (RTO) to develop your skills, improve your job prospects, and stay actively engaged in the workforce.
What you need
To complete the form you need:
- your Training Contract ID
- the name of the apprenticeship or traineeship.
How to register
- Select the 'Register with CAPS' button.
- Enter the details and submit the form.
Contact
If you need help with the form call Training Services on 13 28 11.
What happens next
You'll receive a confirmation email from the CAPS team within 3 business days of registering online.
Signing up with CAPS does not mean you'll get a job straight away. It's important to:
- actively look for work yourself
- keep up with your off-the-job training.
