Introduction
If you are currently registered as a professional engineer, when your registration is nearing its expiry date you'll receive a renewal notice. You are then able to renew your registration online.
Note: If you have changed your name, ensure you update your details with NSW Fair Trading prior to renewing your registration.
Eligibility
To be eligible to renew, you need to:
- be aged 18 or over
- meet the criteria
- completed 50 hours of continuing professional development (CPD)
- have met insurance requirements.
What you need
- a MyServiceNSW Account
- your registration number
- your renewal number (as shown on your renewal notice)
- evidence of your CPD – PDF
- your contact details
- a current credit card for fee payment.
How to renew
- Gather the required documents including evidence of your CPD.
- Select the ‘Renew online’ button.
- Log in to your MyServiceNSW Account.
- Follow the prompts to complete your renewal application.
- Review your answers and give consent to process your renewal application.
- Enter your payment details.
- Select ‘Pay now’.
Privacy
To renew a Design and Building Practitioner registration you'll need to log in with your MyServiceNSW Account. By logging in you:
- consent to sharing your name and email address in your MyServiceNSW Account with NSW Fair Trading
- consent to verifying your identity using your MyServiceNSW Account
- consent to sharing the details of the identity documents you provide via your MyService Account, with NSW Fair Trading
- declare that you have read and accepted the terms of the Professional engineer and design and building practitioners – Privacy Statements.
More information
- If you don't renew on time you'll have to make an application to restore your registration.
- If your registration has expired more than 3 months, you'll need to apply for a new registration to be issued.
- You cannot work if your registration is expired.
