Driver testing and COVID-19

In response to the latest health advice and risks associated with COVID-19, the following changes have been made:

  • Driver testing reopened across the state on 1 July 2020. Bookings can be made online, via phone or in person.
    Prior to sitting the driving test, applicants will have their temperature taken using an infrared hand-held thermometer.
    • Note: Service NSW is experiencing a high demand for this service and hired an additional 50 driver testers across the state to increase the number of tests available to customers. Due to the high volume of requests, tests may book out quicker than usual, we are continuing to monitor the service and are releasing new bookings regularly.
  • Computer-based knowledge test (DKT, HPT) applicants are required to wear masks when undertaking their test at the testing terminal.

Introduction

If you've booked a driver or rider licence test and need to view, change or cancel it, you can do this online within the required notice period.

Any change or cancellation to your booking needs to be made at least:

  • one day before your scheduled Driver/Rider Knowledge Test or Hazard Perception Test
  • 2 days before your scheduled Driving Test
  • 2 days before your Practical Skills Test (Kerbside Test) if you're in an undeclared area.

This also includes any tests you may need to take to change your licence class and type. 

If you’ve cancelled your test within the required notice period, you may be able to get a refund. Call us on 13 77 88 or visit a service centre to make a request.

Note: If you want to make changes to a rider training/testing booking made with a rider training provider, you need to contact the provider.

What you need

  • your booking number (see your booking confirmation email)
  • your personal details.

How to view, change or cancel

  1. Select the 'Change online' button.
  2. Enter your booking number.
  3. Enter your family name.
  4. Select 'Continue'.
  5. Follow the prompts to view, change or cancel your test.
