Introduction

The NSW relationships register provides legal recognition for de facto partners.

If you've submitted an application to revoke your registered relationship within the last 90 days and you wish to withdraw it, you can lodge your request by mail or in person at a Service NSW Centre.

Eligibility

  • If both parties applied to revoke the registered relationship, either party can apply to withdraw the application.
  • If one party applied to revoke the registered relationship, only this party can apply to withdraw the application. The other party will be notified by the Registry of Births, Deaths & Marriages.

What you need

  • your personal and contact details
  • the PDF form – 'Notice to withdraw an application to revoke a registered relationship'
  • 4 certified copies of personal identity documents as specified on the form.

How to withdraw

  1. Select the 'Download PDF form' button.
  2. Complete the form.
  3. Submit your application either in person at a service centre, or by mail to the details on the form.

More information

  • There is no fee to withdraw your application to revoke a relationship, but the original fee paid is non-refundable.
  • Certified copies must be verified as true and correct copies of the originals by one of the following:
    • Justice of the Peace (JP)
    • notary public
    • legal practitioner holding a current practising certificate
    • a person authorised to administer an oath under Section 26 of the Oaths Act 1900.
