- Getting a NSW Photo Card is voluntary. It is a useful form of identity if you do not have a driver licence.

Fees and payment
- If you apply for a NSW Photo Card at the same time as you apply for, or renew, your driver licence, you pay a reduced fee for the photo card.
- Check the amount payable for NSW Photo Card fees.
Using the NSW Photo Card
- You can use a NSW Photo Card to prove your identity in most places a driver licence is recognised.
- In some situations – including some online applications – you cannot use a NSW Photo Card as identification or in place of a NSW Driver Licence. Check the proof of identity requirements before you start a transaction.
- The NSW Photo Card is valid for 5 years (or 10 years for eligible customers aged 21 and over).
