Introduction

Unless you are eligible for an exemption, you will need a recreational fishing licence if you want to fish in NSW waters. You must show your licence fee receipt if asked by an authorised officer.

You will need to change the name on your recreational fishing licence if you:

  • hold a 1-year or 3-year fishing licence, and
  • you've changed your name or it was incorrectly spelled when you applied.

Note:

  • You will need to have a current email address or mobile number listed on the NSW Fisheries database to successfully link your fishing fee receipt with the Service NSW app.
  • You will need to use the same email or mobile number for the Service NSW app.

How to change

  • Call NSW Primary Industries on (02) 4424 7499.
  • Provide:
    • evidence of your change of name or the correction of spelling, and
    • your 1-year or 3-year licence, or your renewal number as shown on your renewal notice.

Access your digital fishing licence

You can access a digital version of your recreational fishing licence through the Service NSW app.
