If you've received a security licence renewal form, you can renew and pay online. There are 2 types of renewals:

  • on-time renewal – on or before the licence expiry date
  • late renewal – within 90 days of the licence expiry date and includes a late fee.

If it is more than 90 days after the expiry date on your licence, you'll need to submit a new application, and you cannot trade until your new licence is issued.

You can renew your security licence if you've received a renewal form and the expiry date is not over 90 days.

To qualify for a master licence, you must:

  • declare details of any close associates of the business (see below), and
  • satisfy stringent integrity requirements, including in relation to any close associates.

A 'close associate' is a person who:

  • holds, or will hold, any relevant financial interest in the business currently
  • is, or will be, entitled to exercise any relevant power in the business, or
  • holds, or will hold, any relevant position (for example, director, manager).

To make sure that you have all the information and documentation you need to complete this transaction, please visit Security Licence at the NSW Police Force website.
