Introduction

If you've received a security licence renewal form, you can renew and pay online. There are 2 types of renewals:

  • on-time renewal – on or before the licence expiry date
  • late renewal – within 90 days of the licence expiry date and includes a late fee.

If your licence has expired

If it is more than 90 days after the expiry date on your licence you need to submit a new application. You cannot trade until your new licence is issued.

Eligibility

You can renew your security licence if you've received a renewal form and the expiry date is not over 90 days.

To qualify for a master licence, you must:

  • declare details of any close associates of the business, and
  • satisfy stringent integrity requirements, including in relation to any close associates.

A 'close associate' is a person who:

  • holds, or will hold, any relevant financial interest in the business currently
  • is, or will be, entitled to exercise any relevant power in the business, or
  • holds, or will hold, any relevant position (for example, director, manager).

A master licence cannot be issued to a partnership, and is not transferable.
