Peter's story: Creating a professional hub in Parramatta CBD
While backpacking around South America, former mechanical engineer and Grounded Space owner Peter Doueihi realised he didn’t want to work for someone else.
When he returned, he started his own business, working from home. Eventually he got tired of living and working in the same place, which prompted his current business venture.
Grounded Space is a hub for ambitious freelancers and start-ups to network and access facilities such as meeting rooms, call answering, internet and printing, and even a gym – all fuelled by Peter’s barista-made coffee.
Peter said that the EtdB team “helped make this café happen”.
Peter came to EtdB early on in his venture, avoiding some of the difficulties faced by first-time café owners. After hearing about his business idea, our business concierge gave Peter a roadmap of the approvals he needed to get up and running.
With building approvals and a music licence received, Grounded Space is set to be a centre of entrepreneurial spirit in Parramatta’s booming economy. Our business concierges are now helping Peter expand to include outdoor dining.
Matteo's story: First restaurant ‘a dream come true’
Matteo Zamboni opened Zambo, a modern Italian restaurant in Sydney, in September 2016. He had worked in some of Sydney’s finest restaurants including Ormeggio, Pilu and Quay as well as Michelin-starred restaurants in Tokyo and Italy.
Despite years working in restaurants, Matteo said his journey wasn’t easy.
“The main frustration was getting our liquor licence. We wanted to organise it ourselves, but we couldn’t, it was just too hard", he said.
Fortunately, the EtdB specialist business concierge team was there to help.
“The team helped us and we got all the answers we needed. The whole process was very quick and efficient”, Matteo said.
Now Matteo can focus on what he does best, treating diners to his creative take on classic Italian dishes.
