Legislation for First Home Buyer Choice received assent on 11 November 2022.

First home buyers have a choice between paying an annual property tax or an upfront stamp duty. 

There is a transitional period where eligible first home buyers will need to pay stamp duty, but can then apply for a refund of the duty after 16 January 2023 on the Revenue NSW website.
