Add or remove a category on an individual property licence or certificate of registration

How to add another category of work to your credential if you have an individual property licence or property agent certificate of registration.

Introduction

If you hold an individual property licence, you can add another category of work if you have the required qualifications and experience. 

You can add or remove categories such as:

  • stock and station agent
  • strata managing agent
  • auctioneer accreditation.

Depending on whether you are a Class 1 or Class 2 agent, you may be able to do this online.

Note: If you no longer need your licence, you can surrender your licence.

What you need

Certificate holders 

To use the online service, you'll need:

  • a MyServiceNSW Account
  • your licence number and expiry date (you can visit Verify NSW to check this) 
  • evidence of required qualifications and experience. 

Class 2 agents

To use the online service, you'll need:

Class 1 agents

It is not possible to add or remove a category online. You'll need to download and complete a form.

Fees and payment

Fees vary by licence type and term. Most fees include a processing fee. The processing fee will not be refunded if your application is refused or withdrawn. For a list of fees visit NSW Fair Trading, Property and stock agents fees.

Note: If you are applying for a class category at the same time as an auctioneer accreditation, two separate fees will apply.

How to change a category

Use the online form (Certificate holders or Class 2 agents only)

To apply or upgrade:

  • gather your licence details, evidence of qualifications and experience, and your payment
  • select the 'Apply or upgrade online' button
  • log in, or create your MyServiceNSW Account
  • follow the prompts to submit your form.

Class 1 agents

To add or remove a category:

  • download and complete the form Add or Remove a Category Application – PDF
  • follow the instructions on the form to pay the required fee
  • attach the required documents listed on the form
  • submit your application via email or in person (details are on the form).
