Apply to Revenue NSW for a fine payment plan

You can make your fine more manageable by paying it in instalments over a longer period.

Introduction

You can receive a fine for a range of reasons including driving and vehicle related offences. If you cannot pay your fine or overdue fine in full by the due date, you can set up a payment plan. This can help you to pay off the fine over a longer period.

A payment plan allows you to break down your payment into smaller amounts that are made via instalments. You pay an agreed sum of money, either weekly or fortnightly, until the balance clears.

If you do not pay your fine in full by the due date or set up a payment plan, recovery action may be taken against you.

Recovery action may include: licence suspension, registration cancellation, a garnishee order, a sheriff taking and selling your goods or property to pay what you owe, an examination notice requiring you to provide information about your financial circumstances, or other recovery action. 

What you need

For individuals

To apply for a payment plan you will need:

  • the fine reference number (printed on the fine notice)
  • your personal and contact details
  • your licence number or Transport for NSW customer number
  • your vehicle's registration number (if applicable)
  • the amount you're able to pay
  • your Centrelink details, if you opt to have repayments taken from your Centrelink payment.

For a business

If you're applying as a company, you will need:

  • the company name and contact details
  • an ACN/ABN.

If you have a Fine Notice or Fine Reminder Notice

To set up a payment plan, call Revenue NSW on 1300 138 118.

If you have an Overdue Fine Notice

If you have received an Overdue Fine Notice you can set up a payment plan online, via the Revenue NSW myEnforcement Order portal.

Apply for a Work and Development Order

If you are eligible for a Work and Development Order (WDO), you can reduce your fines by doing unpaid work, courses, counselling, mentoring or treatment programs.
