If you're a pensioner and receive free vehicle registration, you may be eligible for automatic rego renewal. Automatic renewal is not applicable for conditional registrations.

To be eligible, you'll need to hold a current pension concession card and:

  • have paid your CTP insurance (green slip) for either 6 or 12 months
  • had an eSafety inspection (pink slip) if your rego renewal says 'inspection required' or your vehicle is more than 5 years old
    • Note: If your mechanic gives you a hand-written inspection report your rego cannot be renewed automatically – you'll need to visit a service centre with the report.
  • have no restrictions on your vehicle or driver licence.

When your CTP insurance is paid and your mechanic has electronically sent your inspection report (if applicable) to Transport for NSW, your vehicle registration will be automatically renewed.

If you wish, you can check to confirm the rego has been renewed, online.
